| Signs of Fascism The next scheduled Signs of Fascism (SoF) protest will take place in Belfast, in coordination with Waldo County Indivisible (WCI), on Saturday, February 21st. The plan is to meet at 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Camden National Bank, located just up the hill from Belfast Post Office. WCI’s contact person, Lisa Kushner, is staging this protest to coincide with their group’s weekly “stand out” which takes place from 12:00 – 1:00 in the four-corner intersection where the Post Office is located. Lisa suggested staging the SoF starting on Main Street Hill and then going uphill towards the cemetery. She said there are at least 12 people from WCI who will participate. |
![]() Preparing to Ensure Free and Fair Elections The Audacity is starting to think about the midterm elections and what work we as individuals and as a group might be called upon to do to ensure it is a free and fair election. We know that MAGA and Project 2025 folks are willing to use lies, misdirection, the threat of violence, and in some cases actual violence to ensure that their (mostly unpopular) candidates and policies win in November 2026. In this winter time of planting seeds and preparing for the year ahead, The Audacity is gathering information and making connections so that we can make informed decisions about how best to be ready to meet this moment. |
| It’s back: SAVE Act 2.0 Last year, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act was met with national outrage, and as a result, only squeaked by in the U.S. House. It’s time to get loud again, because similar bills have been introduced and are described as the SAVE Act on steroids: the Make Elections Great Again Act (MEGA) and the Save America Act. They include voter suppression methods, like voter ID and requiring proof of citizenship in order to vote. But they’re also far, far worse than the original SAVE Act. The MEGA Act would prohibit the use of mail-in voting (like absentee voting), Ranked Choice Voting, and the bill touches on voter list procedures and post-election audits. It’s a package of terrible ideas built upon false, debunked theories that our elections are not secure. Maine has the right to conduct our elections, which are already fair, transparent, and accessible. Let’s reject this federal intervention. We encourage you to TAKE ACTION. These laws are nefarious legislation written to restrict states’ ability to run their own elections. Email your U.S. Representative and Senator that you oppose these bills. It only takes a few minutes.TAKE ACTION |
SAVE THE DATE! Saturday, March 28 is the third national No Kings Day, and The Audacity will be in Rockland’s Chapman Park from Noon to 2 PM! As we begin organizing for this event, think not just about being there, but about getting there. If you drive, can you form a visible caravan? If you enjoy walking, would you march to Rockland with others from Thomaston or Camden or Warren or Hope? Start imagining the possibilities, and bring your ideas to the park and to our next mass meeting on March 7! |
Actions You can Take to Resist ICEThe Trump administration is attacking immigrant communities across the country with aggressive ICE raids, abusive and inhumane detention facilities, and targeted attacks on cities and minority groups to create fear and silence opposition. | The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.-Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1938 |
