| Special Announcement Regarding Upcoming School Board Meetings This morning the Bangor Daily News had a front page story attacking local school district over the employment application of an apparently LGBTQ-friendly teacher to the district. Read the article here. The conservatives are really pushing the culture wars on our schools. AND they are again targeting a most vulnerable group of people as their weapon. We need to be really really public in our support of schools as LGBTQ-friendly places. Call out to our peeps to support the school boards in their home to reaffirm the values of the majority and call out the newest effort to divide us on the backs of some vulnerable kids. Some thoughts: Call this out for what it is; a calculated attack on our schools using a very vulnerable group of youth as the tool without regard to the impact. An effort to move our culture back to the 1950s when so much was in the closet, women had not yet liberated themselves and men believed they were in charge,We need to show support for our schools and invigorate supports for all youth. The next Camden-Rockport School Board Meeting is Wed. March 18th, 7:00 at Strom Auditorium, CHRHS. Please attend if you are able. |

| A Pro-Tip for No Kings Attendees: Don’t Feed the Agitators To keep our community safe during the “No Kings” event, we ask everyone to remember one simple rule: Don’t feed the agitators. If someone approaches to provoke, film, or yell at you, please do not engage. Turn your back, focus on the person next to you, and look for a Peacekeeper. Our strength comes from our unity and our message, not from an argument with a disruptor. When we refuse to give them the conflict they are looking for, we take away their power. Interested in being a peacekeeper or just want to learn more? Email Broo broo@team-temple.com |
Mark your calendars. Tell your friends. |

| Public Comments Against a Federal Rule Making it Harder for Asylum Seekers to Work Legally Asylum seekers are not allowed to legally work in the United States until after they apply for asylum and then apply for a work permit. The process has gotten more expensive and complex in the last year as the Federal government continues to make life as difficult as possible for immigrants.A proposed rule by the government would make it almost impossible for new asylum seekers to obtain a work permit and it would give the government the right to arbitrarily deny a renewed work permit to someone who is already lawfully working. This proposal, if it were implemented as is, would impact over 2 million workers and disrupt the economy. Immigrants often work in fields like agriculture, healthcare and manufacturing. The ripple effect of this rule could impact food production, hospitals, nursing and group homes for people with disabilities, etc. Please use this link to read the rule and leave comments! |
Actions You Can Take to Resist ICE:As the authoritarian government extends its fingers slowly but surely over the mid coast, we may have cause to report shocking events. When we do so, let’s use the SALUTE mnemonic to help us remember what information to collect and share so that the report can be most useful. It helps us record any event fully. Please share this image widely as a reminder. |
CALLING ALL ANTI-FASCIST WRITERS, ARTISTS, PROTEST PHOTOGRAPHERS AND OTHER PHOTOJOURNALISTS, TEACHERS/EDUCATORS, ASPIRING COLUMNISTS OF ALL KINDS, BURNED OUT OR PISSED OFF REPORTERSBased on the lessons from women’s non-violent movement resistance leadership and the increasing need for explicitly anti-fascist, pro-inclusive democracy digital/print press, we are launching a hyper-local grassroots press studio and creative salón, with a quarterly, monthly, and desired weekly publication focused on what the grassroots opposition is doing to combat fascism and build a creative and inclusive future for Rockland, the Midcoast, and beyond. Digital presence and two downtown Rockland studios. We plan to launch in June 2026 and are looking for founding artists, columnists, political cartoonists, journalists, and others for nothing other than sweat equity to preserve local journalism and build the inclusive community and future we want. Manifesto and sign up here (https://tr.ee/1_53c3zfLo). If you sign up for more info, use code word “POSE”, as this is aligned with a POSE watch party, designed to orient community members to the history and value of alternative queer economic, relational, and cultural systems. (Women in the world wars used code words to protect the collective.) Portion of profits go to grassroots orgs; and portion goes to local creator fund. Please feel free to share this with aligned journalist or media friends. We have two apprenticeships available this summer. More info needed? Email lance@virtuouswork.org. (PS- call to action is based on developments from Regime about censoring negative war coverage) |
