Friday, January 30 @ 10:30AM: Midcoast Villager Discussion

This long-anticipated conversation is between Audacity members (and others who wish to speak) and the editors of The Villager at 10:30 at the Villager Cafe in Camden. Please bring questions, specifically what you’d like to see in the paper, and any examples of coverage you appreciated. If unable to attend, email Dora Lievow if you’d like us to include your thoughts.
The Audacity Supports the Jan 30 General Strike:
People in Minnesota, in Maine, and across the country are speaking with one outraged voice this week, saying “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” Minnesota students have called a general strike for Friday, January 30, and they are asking for individuals and groups across the nation to act with them. In support of the people of Minnesota, in light of the onerous ICE presence in Maine, and mindful of people across the nation and planet being harmed by the outrageous behavior of the Trump administration, The Audacity will act to support the general strike. Here’s what to do on Friday, January 30:ASSEMBLE at 10:30 AM at the Villager Cafe, 25 Mechanic Street, Camden to meet with the staff of the Midcoast Villager and discuss coverage of local dissent. MARCH at 11:30 AM to the area around the Camden Village Green. Bring pots, pans, drums, and noisemakers of all sorts (reserve whistles for ICE sightings). DEMONSTRATE until 1:30 PM for a return to democracy, human rights, and national sanity.
Also be sure to * Spread the word on social media.* Print this image and post it around town.* Bring 10 friends.
The future of the nation and perhaps the world depends on you. This is a crucial moment. BE THERE.

DIY Ruckus: As the outrages of the Trump administration accelerate and more people are being hurt, the importance of being heard in our demonstration grows. Watch this video for a tip on two quick ways to turn items from your home into instruments of percussion:

Your creativity in noisemaking is the only limit, with one exception: while we have been distributing whistles at Chapman Park, please reserve use of whistles for sightings of ICE.
Wednesday, Jan 28 @ 11:45am: Signs of Fascism, Newcastle
The Signs of Fascism (SoF) group will stage their 8th silent protest this Wednesday, January 28th in Newcastle from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. This will be a collaboration with Lincoln County Indivisible. The plan is to meet at 11:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the Second Congregational Church, 51 Main St., Newcastle. Arriving fifteen minutes early is essential to allow time for everyone to choose a sign and get organized. The plan is to stand along the sidewalk that goes in front of the church and then head towards Damariscotta. Below is a map courtesy of Joan Schwartz LCI of the proposed route. The red X denotes the church. If you plan to attend, please remember to wear all black clothing, and if you invite others, please remind them – all black!
Participate in regular “standouts” with Maine Voices For Palestinian Rights

Bring a sign (we have signs you can borrow too), your voice and your heart. Make a friend. Bring a friend! Now that it’s winter, dress warmly and know your own limits.
We are a diverse group. And, together, we choose democracy.
Do something!
Actions You can Take to Resist ICE
The Trump administration is attacking immigrant communities across the country with aggressive ICE raids, abusive and inhumane detention facilities, and targeted attacks on cities and minority groups to create fear and silence opposition. We know that ICE is operating in Maine, but there is a large network of people working to support their communities.
Testify on LD 2106…
