Saturday, February 27 @ Noon: Stand Out and Sing Out in Rockland’s Chapman Park
We are a diverse group. And, together, we choose democracy.

Announcement: Song and chant leaders are relocating from the corner to near the flagpole! We’ll anchor the sound from this new spot in hope that more people in the park will hear and sing along if they want to. Song leaders will have a broader view of the weekly demonstration. Let’s see how this change works in the coming weeks – it’s adjustment for us all & hopefully an improvement on several levels to expand our participatory singing community. We demonstrate the perseverance of local opposition at the corner of Park & Main Streets. We sing, hold signs, have conversations, collect food/hygiene donations for the local food bank, and give away buttons and postcards.

Bring a sign (we have signs you can borrow too), your voice and your heart. Make a friend. Bring a friend! Bring food and hygiene items to donate. Dress warmly and know your own limits. Your creativity in noisemaking is welcome with one exception: while we are distributing whistles at Chapman Park, please reserve use of whistles for sightings of ICE.
Be A Peace Keeper: Members of The Audacity differ in background, political affiliation, and ideas, but we agree on the following points:
* opposition to authoritarianism, bigotry, and corruption
* support for inclusive democracy, equity, and freedom
* nonviolence in action
HARASSMENT INCIDENT: Members of AudacityCAT met Friday morning February 20th with the Rockland Police due to an incident near Chapman Park the previous Saturday, Feb 14. Both the Police Chief and Officer Lemoi spoke highly of AudacityCAT’s conduct at Chapman Park and their admiration for us. The police see the presence of a uniformed officer as preventive intervention. They suggest we step away when/if there is any verbal harassment. AudacityCAT will have peacekeepers in yellow vests at future events. In the event of any provocations, we are encouraged to walk away, sit down, begin singing, or adopt any peaceful strategy that serves us. And we should each record unwelcome behavior on our phones. Ahead of the protest gathering of NO KINGS on MARCH 28, AudacityCAT will pass out information with de-escalation tips.
PLOW TRUCK INCIDENT: ATTENTION attendees of last Saturday’s protest in Chapman Park–the District Attorney has requested the name and contact info of anyone who was impacted by the incident involving the plow truck driver in order to formalize charges against the driver for court proceedings. If you were one of the unlucky folks who were involved please send your name and phone number or email address to this link: https://audacitycat.com/contact-us/ and Audacity will compile a list to submit to the DA’s office. Thank you.

The SAVE ACT
SAVE Act bills working through Washington, DC, would block millions from voting in the midterm elections. If passed into law, the bill would require voters to show either a current passport, or a birth certificate with the name on the certificate matching the name on a photo I.D., in order to register to vote, but would also require states to purge their voting rolls every month. Millions of people do not have names that match their birth certificates, and millions do not have U.S. PassportsThe measure has passed the U.S. House of Representatives but must overcome a filibuster to pass the U.S. Senate.Please read this for more information on the current SAVE ACT that was passed by the House:https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/new-save-act-bills-would-still-block-millions-americans-votingIt has been proven time and again that voter fraud is virtually non-existent.Please check your registration status!!Q: Why do I need to check my registration status?A: Since 2013, tens of millions of voters have had their registrations canceled in voter roll purges. It is crucial that voters check their voter registration status to confirm it is active and up-to-date with their current address ahead of each election’s voter registration deadline.If voters discover their registration has been canceled they still have time to register ahead of deadlines to ensure they can cast a ballot in the next election.Q: What can I do to ensure that I can vote in the midterms (if the SAVE Act is passed) if I don’t have a passport and my name doesn’t match my birth certificate?A: AudacityCAT is here to help! People at AudacityCAT are so passionate about this issue that they are committed to helping people navigate this atrocious predicament the Trump regime is creating. Send us a message and someone will get back to you.Visit www.AudacityCAT.com for more information about voting in the midterm election.

When reporting, remember SALUTE!
As the authoritarian government extends its fingers slowly but surely over the mid coast, we may have cause to report shocking events. When we do so, let’s use the SALUTE mnemonic to help us remember what information to collect and share so that the report can be most useful. It helps us record any event fully. Please share this image widely as a reminder.
An easy way to support Audacity… Grab a Clynk bag!
Clynk bags are available from Linda at our weekly Saturday demonstration. Then return your full Clynk bag(s) (the fuller, the better) to your nearest Hannaford store. We’ve raised about $120 and we’d like to raise more. Thank you for supporting Audacity CAT with your returnable cans and bottles. Together, we can make a difference.
One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others. -Lewis Carroll
