The SAVE ACT bills would block millions from voting in the mid-term elections:
If passed into law, the bill not only would require voters to show either a current passport, or a birth certificate with the name on the certificate matching the name on a photo I.D., in order to register to vote, but would also require states to purge their voting rolls every month. Millions of people do not have names that match their birth certificates, and millions of people do not have a U.S. Passport.
The measure has passed the U.S. House of Representatives but must overcome a filibuster to pass the U.S. Senate.
Please read this for more information on the current SAVE ACT that was passed by the House:
“The other new SAVE Act bill, the SAVE America Act, also comes with its own add-ons. The Senate’s version of the SAVE America Act not only requires voters to show documents such as a passport or birth certificate to register — it requires them to do so again when they cast a ballot, unless their state has been regularly handing over its voter rolls to the Department of Homeland Security since June of 2025 for comparison with the agency’s citizenship verification tool (confusingly named the SAVE program). Meanwhile, the latest House version of the SAVE America Act takes a different approach by simply directing states to run their voter rolls through the DHS SAVE program.”
Jen Fifield of ProPublica and Zach Despart of ProPublica and the Texas Tribune reported today that DHS has been using an electronic tool called Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE), previously used to check eligibility for public benefits, to find noncitizen voters in a database made up of confidential data from different government agencies. That information includes confidential data from the Social Security Administration, accessed by the Department of Government Efficiency. Republican secretaries of state in twenty-seven states have agreed to use SAVE to check their voter rolls.
There are persistent mistakes that frequently assess naturalized citizens as noncitizens. The system automatically refers those individuals to DHS for possible criminal investigation, and in certain states, individuals have had to prove their citizenship to be reinstated as voters.
Trump says he will present an irrefutable law in the very near future. He said there will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not! He also said ‘…the People of our Country are insisting on Citizenship, and No Mail-In Ballots, with exceptions for Military, Disability, Illness, or Travel.’
It has been proven time and again that voter fraud is virtually non-existent.
Please check your registration status!!
Q: Why do I need to check my registration status?
A: Since 2013, tens of millions of voters have had their registrations canceled in voter roll purges. It is crucial that voters check their voter registration status to confirm it is active and up-to-date with their current address ahead of each election’s voter registration deadline. If voters discover their registration has been canceled they still have time to register ahead of deadlines to ensure they can cast a ballot in the next election.
Q: Where can I check to see I’m still registered to vote?
A: Voters can check their registration status utilizing Rock the Vote’s Voter Registration Check Status Tool (opens in a new window).
Maine has same-day voter registration. For more information on voting in Maine please go to; https://www.maine.gov/sos/elections-voting/registering-to-vote
